My Background
Matthew is a LGBTQIA+, Chinese-Mexican/American musician active in the Greater-NYC area. Known for their rich tone and versatile musicianship, Matthew performs a wide range of genres including orchestral, opera, chamber, contemporary, pop/commercial, musical theatre, and jazz.
In addition to actively performing, Matthew is also an avid teacher. Hosting a large private studio and a featured teaching artist, Matthew’s students have been accepted to top programs, performed in world-class venues, and been awarded first prize in regional, national, and international competitions. As a artist at the intersection of several marginalized identities, Matthew is passionate about activism both in and outside of the music community. Matthew believes strongly in fighting for a more diverse and equitable world that is safe and supportive for all musicians, artists, and people.
